We recently pushed out an update to our MightyText Tablet App that allows you to send MMS picture messages from the tablet.
So, if you have photos in your picture gallery on your tablet, you can now send those out as MMS messages, coming from your phone’s number.
As with our MightyText Web App, your phone will need to be on and must have the MightyText Phone App installed on it, as we send the picture messages out via your phone.
Here at MightyText, we love making products that help people be more productive and make their lives a little bit easier each day. While using our own product, we often found ourselves engaged in multiple text message conversations at the same time. So, we would switch back and forth among these conversations, like we would on our phone…..but started thinking – “Wouldn’t it be great if I could see all my conversations at once!?”
PowerView, the latest MightyText feature, is just that – one view with all of your conversations in the same place! The beauty of PowerView is its simplicity. PowerView shows all of your conversations and allows you to easily reply and compose new messages from one screen.
With PowerView, you’ll never need to switch between conversation threads again! Check it out here – https://mightytext.net/powerview/ – and let us know what you think!
We recently added the ability in the MightyText Web App to send an SMS to up to 10 people at once.
To use this new feature, simply hit “Compose New” and type your contact names.
As a reminder, since we send SMS via your phone, your carrier will count these as if you sent them using your phone yourself. So if you don’t have an unlimited texting plan, be sure to use this wisely!
We’d love to hear if you’re taking advantage of this new feature, and if it’s working well for you. Please comment below.
We’ve heard your feedback loud and clear!
Some MightyText users want to be able to turn off the incoming SMS popup notifications, sometimes just temporarily.
And….when notifications are shown – some people prefer that they auto-dismiss right away (maybe after 5 seconds), while others want them to display longer (30 seconds, 1 minute, etc), and some MightyText users prefer that the notifications stay on the screen until they manually dismiss them.
We’re hoping that our most recent feature launch helps serve the needs of the majority of MightyText users
In the MightyText Web App, you can now configure under Settings:
- Turn on/off Popup notifications for incoming messages/calls
- Set how long to keep Popup notifications showing (only works on Chrome, and Firefox-Windows)
When you turn notifications OFF, in the Chrome Extension, you will see a red dot in the MightyText icon:
Reminder: if you’re using the MightyText Web App on Chrome, then make sure you have the MightyText Chrome Extension installed to receive incoming SMS popup notifications.
For Firefox users to see notifications, please follow instructions for Firefox here.
We just added a much requested feature for MightyText Web App users on Google Chrome browser.
When you get an incoming SMS popup notification, if you either click the popup notification (which brings up the web app), or click the red X in the notification (which closes it), it will now mark the message as “read” on your phone.
This is working starting with version 7.2 of the MightyText Chrome Extension.
Reminder: you’re using the MightyText Web App on Chrome, then make sure you have the MightyText Chrome Extension installed to receive incoming SMS popup notifications.
Firefox Users: We will add this soon for Firefox popup notifications.
We recently launched a few new features and fixes in the MightyText Web app. If you aren’t using the new web-based app – you can learn more about it here.
(1) Contact Images problem fixed
Some users had a problem where all Google Contact images weren’t loading properly. This should now be fixed.
(2) Store Messages Longer
You can now choose to store your messages & call logs on MightyText for up to 6 months. Change this under Settings.
(3) ”Live” Messages – real-time updates in Web App
The thread count and latest timestamp of a thread now update in real-time when:
- send or receive a message on your phone
- reply to a message from the Web App (from an existing thread)
If it’s a new phone number thread (either from the phone, or via “Compose New”) — a new tab will be created in the web app in real-time and will be moved to the top of the threadlist.
These changes should make MightyText feel more “live” and be an improved experience. Let us know what you think!
We recently launched a few new things in the MightyText Web app. If you aren’t using the new web-based app – you can learn more about it here.
(1) Links in text messages are now clickable
All http:// and https:// links are now clickable in the web app.
(2) Show Newlines on incoming text messages
When you receive a message that has a new-line in it, we now properly break it apart into separate lines.
(3) Shift-Enter to add a new-line
For messages you send from the web app – if you have the Enter to send setting enabled, you can now add a new-line by pressing Shift-Enter
(4) Call info in different color
We put the call info (Missed Call, etc) in a more subtle yellow background, and moved it to the right side of the thread. Many users have requested that we have a separate view for call info versus text messages, and we plan to implement that in future as well!
To start using the new MightyText Web App, install it here.
We recently launched our new MightyText Web App product in beta. We’ve made a number of improvements:
Better, cleaner, faster user interface. We’ll be the first ones to admit that the original Chrome extension product wasn’t pretty. We prettied it up
Send/Receive MMS (picture messages). Upload images from your computer as picture messages, and see incoming picture messages on your computer.
Search. Quickly find a text message.
Send message to multiple people at once.
Contact Pictures. See who you are texting!
Firefox, Safari and IE support. Use any major browser, including Firefox, Internet Explorer, and Safari. Soon can support tablet browsers as well.
Improved Contacts Sync. We do a better job of matching Google Contacts than before.

*UPDATE* As of June 19th, 2012 – MightyText Web App is now open to everyone. Install Now.
If you are using MightyText Web App (in beta) – we have launched two new highly requested settings:
(1) Show either: name-only OR message + name on Notifications
When an incoming text message arrives, you can now have it only show the name of the person who is sending you the text (“privacy mode”). This was in our previous version (pre-webapp) and was one of our most important features, so we brought it over as well!
Most users like hitting enter to send a text message while they are typing it. Others prefer the opposite. We now have this as a setting!
If you aren’t seeing these new settings yet, be sure to restart your browser, then load the MightyText Web App.
